The Robert Pearson Collection: Porter Locomotives - Fort Steele, British Columbia, Canada

These photos are of a compressed air locomotive on display at the Fort Steele Heritage Park in British Columbia.  I grew up in Libby, Montana, roughly half day from Fort Steele, and about once a year my parents would pack us in the car and trek over the border to visit the museum and ride the trains.  Although the steam engines were great, I fell in love with the air locomotive tucked away in the far corner of the park looking over the Kootenay river (spelled Kootenai on the US side of the border).  These photos are from a nostalgic trip through my childhood that I took my family on in the summer of 2005.  The park had not changed much in the twenty seven years since my last visit, however the air loco was now prominently displayed out front.  If you ever find yourself near Fort Steel you should make a fun day of it.  For more information on the museum see  http://www.fortsteele.ca/
