Tim notes that Tramaires have a
complex history but were eventually
manufactured by the Universal Tramaire Company out of Denver,
CO. Although they are similar to Eimco machines, there are some differences between
them. The Eimco has a
two-speed transmission that
provides a high and low range of gearing while the Tramaire is a
simpler machine with forward and reverse but only one gearing range. As far
as Tim could tell, Eimco only produced the 401 model but as shown
in the brochure below, Tramaire
developed a line of compressed air locomotives that were built for a
range of service options and needs.
